Read full description of the books Pastel Mood:A long time ago, back when manga scanlations were still kind of a new thing to me (freshmen year of college, so 2002 in case anyone cares) I stumbled upon 3 groups that scanned ALL the manga I could ever want or love. MangaSync--which featured shoujo, mystery and suspense primarily and had a lot of older series, Shoujo Magic--which was also primarily shoujo and spicier works and Mangascreener--which did a whole different range of genres. "Chizumi & Fujiomi" was by far one of my very favorite series.
The basic premise is this: Chizumi Shinohara is a 1st year high school student that is the biggest klutz you could ever meet. Her older sister recently got married and went on her honeymoon, so to assuage her fears Chizumi had been trying to live on her own without problems. One day her beloved sister's hat is blown away. Kou Fujiomi, the resident popular guy loner in second year, finds it and brings it to her. Thus begins their tumultuous relationship.
This second book follows Chizumi as she enters university. Much like "Waiting for Spring" this follows the couple's crazy path of love--tossing in more rivals, more misunderstandings from everyone around them and a bit more cluelessness from Chizumi.
This book addressed an issue that comes up frequently in the stories--that is that Chizumi is rather child like. Her innocence, cheerful exuberance, unquestioning nature and wonder in the small things all stand in stark contrast to Fujiomi who is mostly expressionless...unless you threaten Chizumi, or Chizumi catches him unawares or his brother Shou teases him.
If there's one complaint I have about the books its that many of the girls or guys who get annoyed by Chizumi for being with Fujiomi or for standing in their way very quickly result in poking fun at how 'ordinary' or 'clumsy' Chizumi is. Nanako in particular (with her friends) mocks Chizumi and says she's so plain and ordinary that Nanako--who is "mature" and "pretty" has no competition in steaing Fujiomi away.
Things resolve themselves (as they should) and I really like Sinobe and Miura (Chizumi's friends). Though Miura is a bit blunt, she says things to make Chizumi think and Sinobe is always ready to make them both see reason. Its a good trio of girls!

Name : 冰川京子 (ひかわきょうこ)
Blood type : A
Likes Jackie Chan movies and American movies like BIG. Also cats, but not enough to own one. One of her favorite activities is decorating and creating useful objects for her home. Hates mosquitoes and cockroaches. Has enormous trouble in bicycle parks.
Does mostly light-hearted comedy stories, but very entertaining. She does surprisingly great action scenes (haven't seen many shoujo artists try at a Western before!!).
Her stories ranges from cute to action, but all done unparalled attention - the drawings are refined and the storylines bring the readers into what the characters feel. Her page layouts and camera angles varies a lot, and thus keeps the interest of the reader.
